The Ergo infant insert is a decent way to get your Ergo to work for babies under around 4 months. A two piece insert used first with base and back piece, as pictured, then with a detachable cushion which is just used to lift your baby. Downsides are putting your baby in a carrier becomes a two step process, baby can feel very bundled up, it is quite duvet like and so not an ideal summer or hot climate option. Positives are it turning the Ergo into a birth to toddler carrier, which is a great thing. My word of warning is to make sure you are really aware of the options for carrying a newborn, keeping them close and skin to skin, putting your baby in and out often, carrying them indoors, etc - it is worth considering iinvesting in a newborn specific carrier to fill the gap, for a similar price, and move onto the ergo when your baby is bigger.
