Connecta vs Nova

A comparison of the Connecta Baby Carrier & Nova Classic Full Buckle Baby Carrier

I have been meaning to write this blog for a long time! At the sling library session’s people generally ask for a soft structured carrier (ssc) that provides lumbar support, a ‘wrap’ of some sort be it a stretchy or a woven wrap, or a Non-structured baby carrier with buckles. For the Non-structured buckle carrier I always show the Classic Full Buckle Baby Carrier by Nova Baby Carriers or the more well-known Connecta Baby Carrier.

The Nova website states that the Nova Classic Full Buckle is suitable from4 months to 2 years and for users up to UK size 22 (can be made to suit larger frames on request) There is a preschooler/toddler version available too. The Connecta website states that the Connecta Baby Carrier is suitable from 3.5kg (birth) to toddler. There are petite & Toddler versions available too. Both of these can be cinched (and come with a cinch strap) and used from birth.

So a quick run-down on both of these carriers. They both go on exactly the same. Waist goes on apron style, click buckle closed, baby sits in carrier, and panel goes up over baby. One strap gets passed over the shoulder and clipped into buckle on opposite side, and repeat so you have crossed straps at your back. They can also be worn like rucksack straps but are more commonly crossed. Both are teeny to pack up and take with you and are both equally supportive. Nova Baby Carriers are made in the UK and Connecta Baby Carriers are NOT made in the UK, as we previously thought. Apologies for the confusion on this matter!

connecta vs nova baby carrier review

The devil is in the details as they say and I don’t think I’ve left too many details out! Here is a full comparison to help you choose the right one. You can also head to a sling meet to try these out, a full list of sling meets around the UK & Ireland that carry these carriers (pardon the pun) is listed on their respective websites. While this is a comparison blog piece I suppose it is also a Connecta Baby Carrier Review & a Nova Classic Full Buckle Review wrapped up in one!

nova and connecta waist comparison

I’m going to work from the bottom up with these. Waistbands first! Well they are both unpadded. The Connecta measures 32cm across the panel at the base compared to the Nova at 37cm. The webbing on the Connecta starts right where the panel ends. In comparison to this there is an approx. 8cm x 8cm small padded square at the side of the Nova so the webbing never pulls directly into your body. (It also reduces muffin top a bit - sorry I do hate that phrase, but that’s what mine looks like!) I find the small bit of padding here makes the Nova slightly comfier as the webbing on the Connecta can be a bit diggy if I am only wearing a vest etc, otherwise they it is fine.

nova padded waist

Next to compare is webbing at the waistband. The webbing on the Connecta is 5cm wide & very soft. The buckle when closed is 9cm x 5.5cm. The webbing on the Nova is 5cm wide & slightly firmer. The buckle on this one when closed is 8.5cm x 5.5cm so slightly smaller. Both are easy to adjust, easy to clip & unclick and both are equally secure and comfy against the body. The total length of the webbing & panel together on the Connecta is 125cm and the total length of the webbing & panel together on the Nova is 188cm. That is a significant difference so definitely a big thing to consider. The Nova also comes with neat little elastics that tie up all the extra slack from the unused straps, the Connecta does not.

connecta buckle length vs nova

Onto the panel of the carrier. Both baby carrier panels are approx. 50cm long. The Connecta panel starts narrower and moves up at straight angles to the top of the baby carrier. The Nova starts a bit wider and then moves up in a curved shaped, then spreading out a bit at the top, it is almost an hour glass shape. Both are totally unpadded and available in great fabric choices. Connecta releases a set number of prints on a generally regular basis. The Nova can be made in any number of fabrics from a website that offers 1000’s of choices at no extra cost. They do have in stock carriers too. I have liked all the options available on any websites that I have seen them both for sale so really the choice of print is just a matter of personal choice! I do prefer the curvy shape on the Nova as I think it fits better at the middle of the carrier, but both are comfy and provide full coverage for your baby.

connecta baby carrier shape vs nova shape

The second set of buckles! These are both just above the midpoint on the Connecta and the Nova. The buckles on the Nova are stitched inside the body panel or sunk into it so they do look very neat. The buckles on the Connecta are stitched on the same way but the rectangular box on the outside is visible so more obvious on dark fabrics. We are really just nit picking at aesthetics here though. The Nova buckle is 7.5cm x 4.5cm compared to 9cm x 6cm on the Connecta. This small difference is noticeable when wearing as it is less bulk under my arm. Not an issue for everyone of course but I prefer the smaller buckle in this case.

connecta underarm buckle vs nova

Hoods, or lack of. The Connecta has a hood that is built in. It is the same type of fabric as the panel on the main body and is very thin. It can be clipped up onto the shoulder straps with two small buckles that are located 15cm up from the top of the body of the carrier. They can be half folded down and it has been suggested this can be used as a pocket, but I don’t think I’d store anything in there as both sides are open. This is one section where I definitely prefer the Nova baby carrier as it doesn’t come with a hood as standard. It is an optional extra, you can choose from a flat hood or a round hood. All my kiddos have had sweaty heads so I would never use a hood so I really like the option that I can buy this style of carrier without a hood. With a hood the Nova rates the same as the Connecta and either way they are a teeny piece of fabric that can be ignored if you don’t want to use it.

connecta baby carrier hood folded down

So we’ve arrived at the shoulder straps! The Connecta offers 36cm of lightly padded shoulder straps that are approx. 8cm wide and the Nova offers 32cm of padding that are approx. 9cm wide. The straps from the Connecta go out at slightly more of a straight line compared to the Nova which goes out at almost a 45 degree angle. The Connecta straps can cause more pulling on the neck because of the angle and if they aren’t pulled down your back before crossing them when putting them on. (Just my experience) The Nova is less likely to cause this issue as they move away from the neck and towards the shoulder. The total length of the Nova straps including unpadded webbing is approx. 124cm and the total length of the Connecta straps including unpadded webbing is 94cm. Both carrier straps can also be worn as rucksack straps, and these can then be secured with the cinch straps to make them more secure, but these carriers are normally worn with straps crossed at the back.

connecta shoulder straps vs nova

Onto the cinch straps. These are a small length of black webbing that have small buckles. You can use them to make the carrier smaller at the base so they fit smaller babies better. Both are equally easy to use and similar size, both in black, and if you’re anything like me, both bound to get lost at some point! I use these at the library to tie the baby carriers together to keep them neat when not in use. I like things tidy! Connecta call their strap the Connecta Accessory Strap and Nova call their strap the Chest Belt.

Connecta Baby Carriers cost from £68.00 and upwards depending on the pattern. Nova Classic Full Buckle Baby Carriers cost £59.99 without a hood and from £71.99 with a hood.

Pros & Cons of the Connecta: It is better known, this means that a second hand Connecta Baby Carrier is easier to find! You can only buy them in stock which means you get it as soon as the retailer dispatches it! If you want a hood on your carrier, it is there as standard & you don’t need to order it as an extra. Connecta don’t do any custom orders, but do have nice collaborations with some wrap companies for funky wrap conversion Connecta’s.

Pros & Cons of the Nova: It can be ordered from many retailers who keep it in stock (like us!) and can also be ordered direct from Nova themselves, you can choose from thousands of patterns & 16 different strap colours! I prefer the hourglass fabric panel on this carrier & the extra padding at the waist. I also like that I can pick and choose whether mine has a hood. The angle at which the shoulder straps leave the Nova make it easier to get a perfect low cross over the back in my opinion. The little elastics at the end of the straps are a mega deal for me as I have enough hanging off me without surplus webbing dangling from me too! If you want a wrap conversion Nova you can send in your own wrap for a custom carrier.

I hope you find these detailed run downs useful when choosing a non-structured Buckle Baby Carrier. All measurements are approximate and were taken with my measuring tape in one hand, sleeping baby on my knee. They are based on the slings I have in front of me, so it’s possible there is a slight variation. Let me know your own pros and cons for these carriers, and any similar ones on the market you use and love!

After reading this and owning 2 connectas, I really would love to try a Nova out, love the fact there is no good hiding the pretty patterns as I very rarely ever use the hoods on my connectas and the idea of less muffins appeals to me too

Gem Adams

Date 5/25/2016

I prefer the Nova due to the slightly padded waist band, which makes my muffin top look less like a well cut fairy cake! Also, I prefer the shorter straps as I am like a little leprechaun. Great review, thank you. X

Nova, more compact, neater, comfier and more choice.

Date 5/25/2016

Nova, much as I love a connecta I think the extra padding on the nova looks great and there is a great choice in fantastic colours! Just have to justify another carrier now! X

Date 5/25/2016

Connecta a because it can be used for an older child as well so can get more use out of it.Also like to have a built in hood.

Sarah fisher

Date 5/25/2016

I prefer the nova as it has the elastic to tie up all the loose strap. I have found this feature to be invaluable on my lillebaby.

Abi

Date 5/25/2016

They both look lovely, but I think I'd go for a nova as I love the choice of fabrics, especially the hedgehogs one

Nikki

Date 5/25/2016

I prefer the Nova carrier as the straps are wider and look so much more comfier. There are also lots more pattern options to choose from. I also wouldn't be likely to us a good often so having the option to not have one is great.

The nova...I have a muffin top already.. definitely doesn't need any emphasising! Trying to work off the extra baby weight too and baby wearing is a great way to do it!!

Alannah Freeman

Date 5/25/2016

Loved my Connecta but would like to try a nova as I like the idea of the elastics on the straps. Also you can have a fox pattern and I love foxes :)

I would love to win a nova it looks to be a very well made faff free carrier that would fit a huge range of people. I have never seen one in real life so I'm very curious. It look likes it would fold up neatly into my bag when out & about which helps when my 3 year old goes on walking or carrying strike lol

Lucy Storton

Date 5/25/2016

I would choose the Nova just based on the shape of the panel and the choices you have. I think both look great though and i love how small they would fold up. So handy to have with you when out and about.

The nova looks amazing, as a larger lady (size 22) I am delighted that it should fit! I love my lillebaby but would love a lighter alternative! Would love to win a Nova!!!

Vicki

Date 5/25/2016

I prefer the nova. The waistband looks comfier and prefer a little bit of padding as well as the width and I like the curved panel, not to mention the gorgeous colour of the one in the photo-love the green!

My LG kept kissing my phone when I should get the Nova so I'd like the Nova please

Nicola Cunnington

I prefer the Nova carrier - the hourglass shape, the straps look like they'll fit me better and I LOVE that there's thousands of fabrics to choose from!

Kuljit J

Date 5/25/2016

I'd lovep to try the nova out as an alternative to my Lillebaby- prefer it to the connecta given the review especially as it reduces the appearance of the 'muffin top' :-)

Kate

Date 5/25/2016

I haven't tried either but love he look of the nova. The padding looks like it would be really comfortable and the fabrics are cool!

emma speirs

Date 5/25/2016

the nova as it would fit alot more people as I am a big person

Catharina Ward

Date 5/25/2016

Nova looks great - the extra padding at waist and shoulder straps has to make for a more comfortable carry.

Francesca

Date 5/25/2016

I prefere connecta because there is a preschooler version

Kirsty Pearce

Date 5/25/2016

Good review! Very thorough! I personally prefer the Nova (pre testing). The longer waist straps are ideal as I still carry my baby weight with me . I like the padding (webbing) on the waist band too. I love the style of the Nova, it's funky yet practical! I can't wait to try one out!

Rachael Lee

Date 5/25/2016

Fab review - I think I'm a little bit in love with the Connecta, it's definitely more the right style and shape for me! The Connecta would be more suitable for my older baby and looks more streamlined.

Jessie jones

Date 5/25/2016

After renting both from my local sling library I found Nova worked better for us, the waist was more comfortable & for a bigger girl the longer waist strap was lovely

Emma McCarthy

Date 5/25/2016

I've not tried a nova carrier and have a Connecta which I love. However, after reading that I think if I was buying again I'd go for the nova. I like that the shoulder straps go out at an angle to make it comfier and easier for a lower back cross and I also like the option of choosing your own design! I wish I'd heard about them earlier. Maybe I'll win :-) xx

Stella Patrick

Date 5/25/2016

Well I love my connecta very much, but this article has made me wonder if I am missing out by not trying a nova. I think a visit to a sling library is in order...

Kelly snape

Date 5/25/2016

I am a larger lady so the longer and padded straps appeal. Ive also seen some amazing fabrics on the nova!

Gemma Carver

Date 5/25/2016

The 2 dO have a lit if similarities, but the novas additional padding looks like meets a little between a beco style and connecta. The lack of padding is the only criticism I've ever had about a connecta so it's great to see a carrier with this that will still easily fold into a changing bag

Jennifer Ashby

Date 5/25/2016

I love my Connecta, the built in hood is very useful for supporting a sleeping baby's head. I've used mine for about 9 months now and couldn't imagine being without it. Also the hood can be inverted and tucked down inside the fabric of the body panel which makes it as versatile as the Nova and also this provides quite a deep pocket for your phone and bank card for example.

rebecca

Date 5/25/2016

I would like to try a Nova Carrier based on how small and compact they fold up. Perfect for folding away in a handbag :)

Emma

Date 5/25/2016

Prefer the Nova! Webbing looks more comfy and the colours are lovely :)

Natalie adams

Date 5/25/2016

I have a Connecta and absolutely love it, it is the comfiest carrier I've had ;Barr my stretchy, but I would love to try a Nova aswell! When weighing up whether to buy the Connecta or a Nova I plumped for the Connecta only because I had a discount code and because I knew they were reputable but I think the price point is spot on for the Novas and would love to give one a go!!

Kristie

Date 5/25/2016

I already have a connecta which I love but after reading this blog I think I prefer the nova. I might have to get a toddler nova when my son grows out of his connecta

Vicky bourner

Date 5/25/2016

Ahhhhhhhh i LOVE the connecta! It has the deathly hallows sign on it and im a MASSIVE MASSIVE Harry Potter fan! Its BEAUTIFUL!. I would love the chance to win this so i could wear my little man in it!

Sarah

Date 5/25/2016

It would have to be the connecta, purely for the fact it goes from birth to preschool. I have a 3 year old who gets very green eyed over her baby brother getting attention. So I prefer a carrier that I can use for either to reduce her envy.

Victoria Polson

Date 5/25/2016

I like the sound of the Nova best. The straps seem to be designed in a way to allow a lower cross and I like the option of no hood. There also didn't seem to be any cons of the Nova. I imagine they are much easier to get hold of too!

Catherine Varley

Date 5/25/2016

You had me at Hello! ...well I was swayed immediately with the much brighter Nova, but I did read the entire blog comparison and it seems I would prefer it on many other fronts, not just on appearances. I like the idea of no muffin tops! Softer straps so they are more comfortable sounds good. I wouldn't use a hood either. I like that the Nova is wider at the bottom, for tucking in little feet in the early stages. So I think definitely the Nova for me!

Katie Hunter

Date 5/25/2016

They both look great, but as I've never used a Nova before I would love to try one. Although, I did love my Connecta and the hood is really handy... Currently, using a Lillebaby, so one that folds down a bit smaller for quick trips out would also be fantastic!

aoifeparsons

Date 5/25/2016

I would pick the nova love the fabric and looks so comfy and easy to wear

Rebecca Claire

Date 5/25/2016

I like the funky and slender look of the Nova as well as the waist strap. I'm impressed by the wealth of fabrics and strap colours and the fact that stock is likely to be available!! But I still think I like the connecta better - maybe that's better the devil you know. I like how the connecta fits, the interested hood and how small it is to pack away when not in use. The major pro for the connecta for me tho is the Solar. Cool and UV protection - just makes it so versatile.

Evka Fronovie

Date 5/25/2016

I would go for nova. The shape and colors look more attractive to me. And looks it has more choices. Good review!

Nicola roxby

Date 5/25/2016

Id choose the nova, we've hired a connecta from a local slong library and didnt get along with it at all,the fit was all wrong and not enough support, the extra padding on the nova would be welcome x

Emily

Date 5/25/2016

Hmmmm I think Nova just for the shape, though the Connectable is lovely too.

Ciara doyle

Date 5/25/2016

Wow what a lovely comprehensive review. Going by this review I think the nova is the way to go x

Tammy

Date 5/25/2016

I haven't tried a nova yet but liked my connecta so I couldn't say which Is best but would like to try a nova

Helen curzon

Date 5/25/2016

I would definitely choose the nova because the connecta wouldn't be big enough.

Lindsey hunton

Date 5/25/2016

I wasnt a fan of my connecta and by the looks of the review i think i would much prefer the nova

Kerry jackson

Date 5/25/2016

I would choose the nova my husband has just started wearing our little dude and he is an ice hockey player so a nice big guy and the nova sounds like it will fit him perfectly :-) fab review thanks xx

Kirsty Parkyn

Date 5/25/2016

I think I would prefer the Nova, the padding makes it look as if it would be more comfy. The idea of having the hood as an optional extra is better, my little boy gets super hot so not sure I would use it on the connector. Would love to win one as my little boy is getting much too heavy for my stretchy wrap .

Danielle g

Date 5/25/2016

Connecta purely for the deathly hallows reference and the fact I'm a geek. Wouldn't be adverse to trying to nova though xx

Carolyn Royse

Date 5/25/2016

I would love the nova. The funky colours, wide pads and longer straps look good. I worry about carriers being a larger mum with huge boobs. It's So embarrassing when they don't fit, when trying them on. It makes me want to cry. Am also short and nova does not look too long.

Becky luke

Date 5/25/2016

Nova looks like it would be more comfortable and just because OMG that unicorn fabric!

katrina de cruz

Date 5/25/2016

I prefer the Nova. This is a great review of both carriers. I like the idea of wider straps and the hourglass panel. I have sore neck muscles and I found the connect a very diggy carrier so had to sell it on. I love soft structured carriers and the Nova sounds perfect

Gillian Nowill

Date 5/25/2016

Definitely a Nova! Anything that reduces a muffin top gets my vote ;)

Stacey

Date 5/25/2016

Nova....they are soooooo pretty!

Sam

Date 5/25/2016

I'd like to try a nova. I think I'd like it better than a connecta because of the waist padding and that it would still be compact enough to keep in my bag easily

Gemma caple

Date 5/25/2016

I actually looked at the nova carriers direct from nova and thought they looked good. I have tried the connectas and really like them. I think the nova would be fantastic to try especially the thicker waist band.

Leah Jenkinson

Date 5/25/2016

From the descriptions you have written I would pick the Nova as I think I would benefit from the extra padding. I also like the idea of the optional hood. My girl never uses or likes them.

Donna

Date 5/25/2016

Nova.. PLEEEEASE. Looks comfortable and colourful.

Lisa Grosvenor

Date 5/25/2016

The Nova looks great, with the more padded waist and the range of colours x

Luci

Date 5/25/2016

I prefer connecta. I'm not a fan of too much padding on sscs as I find it diggy

Katie

Date 5/25/2016

I prefer the nova due to more padding and because it's.smaller eight the option of the hood. I do prefer the colour of.the connecta though. Overall its gotta be the nova :)

Bahia Maani

Date 5/25/2016

I prefer the nova I think because of the shape and extra padding. Would love to get a buckle carrier for my busy toddler!

Lisa

Date 5/25/2016

They both look great, however from the reviews it seems the Nova just edges it on most counts. Would love to try either as an alternative to my Lillebaby, as the only downside to it is how bulky it is to carry when not in use, something I'm finding more and more with a baby that has just learnt to walk!

Helen

Date 5/25/2016

I prefer the nova as it is a better sizing for me & my Hubby who has a larger frame. It also has some fab colours.

Katherine Fry

Date 5/25/2016

Thank you for the great review, really informative. I have a connecta, but feel our 8 month old chunk is getting very heavy for me to carry comfortably. Might have to consider a nova!

Amy moors

Date 5/25/2016

Nova, i love the shape, colour and the padding is a must!

Kathrin Felber

Date 5/25/2016

Thanks for the review, very informative. I would love to try out a connecta as I have never tried one and reckon the narrower based would be a better fit for my wee man atm.

Emma Corbett

Date 5/25/2016

I haven't actually worn either but from the very detailed description the Nova sounds like a more practical choice for me. I love the choice of fabrics too! It is a pity though that you can't carry from birth with the nova as I am due a new squish in a couple of months!

Orla Smith

Date 5/25/2016

I prefer the Nova. The padding at the waistline looks comfy & always good to hide the muffin top Also being a neat freak I'd prefer to tidy those straps up with the elastics.

Lauren Dauny

Date 5/25/2016

The nova! It looks great, there little bit of padding on the waist looks good only downside is no hood x

Joanne Pepper

Date 5/25/2016

I prefer the sound of the Nova. More padding, more choice and I like things to be neat too (and as I'm little there's always a lot if straps flapping slab out so the elastics to tie them up would be handy) xxx

Lisa Rowlinson

Date 5/25/2016

I love the nova.. It looks more sturdy and fits a bigger frame, it's nice a comfortable with the padding and I love the colours xx

Lisa Leddy

Date 5/25/2016

We love our connecta but would love the chance to try the nova out. It looks great.

gemz de rowe

Date 5/25/2016

I prefer nova personally as i like the additional padding and hidden x boxes

Lisa

Date 5/25/2016

I haven't got any so don't have any experience. I like the sound of the Nova as my partner is tall it maybe ideal for him as well to wear our baby too.

Chantelle

Date 5/25/2016

Another nova vote from me! I love how you can choose from so many patterns and that the straps are diff colours...seems more individual! Also like the extra padded part at the waist!

Joanne Strachan

Date 5/25/2016

I love my connecta but really like the look of the novaa I like that the padded part of the straps are shorter as I find my connecta straps are too long to get them tight enough. on paper I prefer the nova would love to try one out to find out how it fares in real life

Laura Hilton

Date 5/25/2016

I hired a Connecta and all the things I didn't like seem to be addressed in this review - so it'd be a Nova that I'd choose

Lynsey McGrath

Date 5/25/2016

The Nova looks good and looks super comfy, love the massive choice of colours too

Date 5/25/2016

I love carrying my grandchildren in the connecta , I call it a click and go as they are so quick and simple to use . But would love to win the nova as it looks a lovely carrier . I have a new 2day old grandchild so would be lovely to use for him when he is older

Jen jones

Date 5/25/2016

I prefer the nova lovely shape and colours

Jen Hickey

Date 5/25/2016

I'd prefer the Nova as I had a connecta and found the straps pulling towards my neck an issue. Hopefully this would be much better with the more curved shoulder straps.

Anneliese Myers

Date 5/25/2016

I love the sound of the Nova. I tried a connecta at a sling meet and found it a little uncomfortable but it sounds like the nova would do the job perfectly!

Carrie

Date 5/25/2016

They both sound great. I've only ever used a ring sling but always wanted a connecta so would choose that.

Kiera

Date 5/25/2016

Connecta still wins for me due to the different sizes, straps and designs

Nicola

Date 5/25/2016

I want to try the Nova -right from you said it hid the muffin top!!!!!. I currently have a lilliebaby and would love something more compact to throw in my bag

Julia

Date 5/25/2016

Nova sounds the best for me and my little guy!

Erin

Date 5/25/2016

We are a Connecta loving family! We've been to sessions with a sling consultant to try many a soft structured carrier but couldn't get on with anything with too much padding. I would love to try to Nova as it looks to have just the right amount of padding for when your baby is getting a bit bigger. Our baby is getting to that point where the Connecta isn't always comfortable for longer carries, but the Toddler Connecta is far too big for him. We would love the opportunity to give a Nova a spin! x

Love the look of the Nova, fabrics look lovely and I like the idea of the better padding for extra comfort. X

Date 5/25/2016

Brilliant, thoughtful and helpful review. Personally I would love a Nova for two reasons.1) I tried a friends connecta and could not get on with it due to my curves. 2) the review looks so positive for the Nova and the way it's shaped and how the straps are angled looks like it would fit me better. X

I would love to adopt a Nova! I, myself, am a beautiful hourglass shape so we have that in common! The fact that the Nova fits bigger sizes and will aid in reducing my blueberry muffin top makes the Nova a winner in my eyes!

Date 5/25/2016

Oh I love your giveaways and promotions BabaMe! I would love a Nova carrier - I never got on with a Connecta and even tho the Nova is quite similar it looks a lot easier to handle and a little more supportive - plus how pretty is that print!!! Good luck to me and all

Great review! I have tried a Connecta and loved it so would love to win a Nova to compare.

Date 5/25/2016

The Nova sounds so comfortable to wear. I currently use a caboo and a mei Tai and have been looking at getting a connecta. Will definitely be looking at the Nova now. If I don't win a Nova of course!

Chris

Date 5/25/2016

I love the Connecta; it's a great style and shape (and not too girly for my other half to use too!).

Geraldine

Date 5/25/2016

I've only tried a Connecta but the Nova looks a much better shape and seems a comfort design! Love the fact you can get it without a hood!

Kate Collins

Date 5/25/2016

I love Connecta so that's my favourite. I haven't actually tried a Nova but I've a small build and other soft structured and non-structured carriers that I've tried with more padding/wider straps just don't give as comfortable a fit as a Connecta.

Claire

Date 5/25/2016

What great reviews! My baby is 11 weeks old and we are new to baby carrying. I've been trying to weigh up the most ideal carrier to get and after reading your reviews I'm definitely drawn toward the Nova. With it being a curved shape and wider at the bottom it looks as though it will provide plenty of support especially as being new to carrying I'm super nervous of making sure my baby is well supported. It also looks really easy to use and with the straps being a bit longer means I can play about with it a bit more to fit us and make sure I get the best use out of it :) I also really love the design in your pictures xx

What a great review, I've had the pleasure of having a nova and a connector. I'd personally go for the connector as my little boy felt very unsecured to me when he was in the nova. But then again I'm biased but I'll say no more on the matter. Fabulous review though, was worth the time reading x

Michelle

Date 5/25/2016

I would love to try the nova and see how comfortable the waistband is with the extra padding. All in all it looks a more confortable ride and love you can personalise it but saying that the connector is so portable and compact. Thanks for your review Michelle

My vote has to go with the Nova. The reason for this is the fact that it is suitable for larger sizes. It's a shame it can't be used before 6 months but it looks a lot more comfortable and supportive for the wearer.

Been wanting to try a connecta out for she's my sling library always had it out on hire and in the end I gave up trying and used a ring sling and caboo for my first I was lucky as she was small and both were comfy'ish she's now a toddler and baby boy is much much bigger so I would love the idea of the Nova just for being bit bigger and however vain it seems the less muffin top the better HAHAHA plus it looks lovely and bright! Xx

Cloud

Date 5/25/2016

I would love to win a nova after reading this article! I have tried the connecta before at a sling library and adore it!! The main reason I'd like to win is because I love baby wearing and my sling library may not carry on soon. I really cannot afford to buy my own and my baby is getting bigger and bigger (98th centile for height) meaning physically carrying her is hard on the arms! :')

Leticia Vega

Date 5/25/2016

Definitely the Nova! I love the great selection of fabrics, the padding and those little elastics for a neater look. I tried a Connecta and didn't find it that comfortable, I'd love to win the Nova

Claire gillanders

Date 5/25/2016

I think id like the Nova better, I've heard great things. But then i wouldn't say no to a harry potter connecta!! Potterheads unite!

Elaine

Date 5/25/2016

I think I'd prefer the nova, it seems wider, more robust and comfier all round really. The designs look fab, and oh to have such a compact carrier rather than carrying a holdall to hold the carrier!!! My baba never allows the hood up on ours anyway so that's no great loss :-)

Chloe

Date 5/25/2016

I prefer the Nova, the choice of all those different fabrics is a big deal. I also like the sound of the little elastic and the hiding of the muffin top.

What a great review! I love connectas, they are so handy and easy to use, but after reading this I would love to try the Nova. The padding on the straps, and the fact that the straps are so much longer are a real benefit, and would make the Nova super comfortable! x

I'm looking for a less cumbersome carrier now my daughter is walking more and more. We have been using the Ergo since birth and either of these look ideal. However, being used to all the padding of the Ergo, I think the Nova sounds like it would be the most comfortable so I think I'd have to say that would be my favourite out of the two. x

Bethan Wallace

Date 5/25/2016

As much as I love the colours of the nova I think the connecta would be more practical for me - better streamlined and I do love it's clean lines and simplicity. My girls would love it :)

I love the connecta & up to now had never heard of the nova! Now of course I want one!!! Oh the perils of loving babywearing

Vicky

Date 5/25/2016

I think I'm swayed towards the Nova. I love the massive choice of colours and designs. Plus being a big girl and my husband being a rugby player the longer straps would be more suited to us.

Date 5/25/2016

I prefer connecta because there's a preschool version!

Sarah bennett

Date 5/25/2016

I would choose the Nova carrier as I think it would fit both my 15 month old and 2 yr old. I think the straps being more padded would suit me better and I love that the straps are longer then the connecta so both hubby and I could wear our kids!

Mischa Kerr

Date 5/25/2016

I like the nova best, I'm really glad I read this as I was trying to decide whether to buy one so this has really helped. If I'm honest the fact it helps hide muffin top sold it

I've just borrowed a toddler connecta from my local library and although i prefer it to the carrier I have been using, I have found it rubbing at my neck slightly so I would love to try a nova as it sounds like it may 'fit' better.

Pamela Smith

Date 5/25/2016

I would prefer the Nova. Looks more comfy for baby and parent! Prefer the wider base and slightly more padding and like the curved shape. Looks lovely and very comfortable! Would also love the wide range of choice of fabrics :)

Date 5/25/2016

As awesome as the Nova sounds, my heart lies with the connecta (at least until I get the opportunity to try the nova when my newborn is a little older). I find with my connecta, that the straps are excessive as it is being on the smaller side, the Nova seems to have even longer straps which may exabberate that issue (unless there's some kind of way of concealing them?) Also, I love that with the connecta it is usable from birth (providing baby is 7lb and above) which is very handy during those first few months with a newborn when you have a 1-2 year old to run about after day in day out. Also the head support comes in very handy also. Having said all of this, when my little one reaches of age, I'd be more than happy to try out the Nova and see what it has to offer as they look pretty incredible with some awesome designs :)

Wow,what a fantastic review! I'd love the Nova. It's sounds like it will be a comfier fit for me and my growing girlie. Also small enough to keep in my changing bag for them moments where you'd really need it. (I'd forget my head if it wasn't screwed on!)

The nova - it just looks that little bit more comfy for baby.

Date 5/25/2016

The nova looks like a winner here! II looks gorgeous and i like the padded wings in the waist (never been able to own but tried on a connecta and found it digged in here!) And it would fit hubby nicely too! X

Emily Crampton

Date 5/25/2016

I love the look of the nova with the hour glass shape, oooodles of patterns and it helps to have the muffin top covered too .

I'd like to try a nova. The idea of the extra padding before the webbing on the straps seems a good idea for extra comfort

Kirsty whale

Date 5/25/2016

I prefer the nova as it has more Padding, the straps don't feel like they would dig in as much . Love the designs and of course it's cheaper !

Gemma

Date 5/25/2016

I'd love to try the nova carrier as both me and my partner could use it as we both suffer from spine problems (my partner has spondylitis and I suffer from scoliosis) it means we could both carry Alex with ease.

I'm a huge HP fan but my babies love colourful things so would have to go with the Nova. I am also a large and I have large babies so it would benefit me in many ways.

Ellie Richards

Date 5/25/2016

I havent tried the Nova yet and love Connecta for its compact and light weight. For someone who is petite like me, it would be better to have a small panel and it doesn't matter how long the traps are. Based on your comparison, i would find the Nova and Connecta appeal to me as follows: Straps- Connecta would be better as longer padded shoulder strap (whilst less webbing). The weight of babies are carried mainly by the shoulders (not the waste i found, more pressure on the waste would be the case for Lillebaby). Hence the more padded, and bigger size buckles will make me feel it safer to carry my baby. Panel- Connecta shape is better as its wider at the baby shoulder level giving them more space for shoulder and neck movement. However, i prefer not to have the hat cover and the body panel as one piece. This covers up all the beautiful print! So thumps up for the Nova for not having the hat like this. Waistband- although the Connecta's seems to be thinner, its actually very comfortable esp when sitting down. Not sure if the Nova's extra padded side band will make any different as i still think the pressure is mainly on the shoulders for these carrier. Choice of print- this will be one of the key reasons for me to buy a carrier! Both have many beautiful print. It is a 'cons' for our bank balance as we will keep buying more than one! Sizing- it seems that Nova offers wider range of sizes for mums. Sorry if my review can appear to be biased toward Connecta just because i havent tried a Nova. They both look fab :) and lovely for baby wearing.

Date 5/25/2016

Very interesting read. Nova seems to have more lovely prints and wider panels, with extra padding at waist so sounds like very comfy for long journey. I am petite, so the elastic loop at the end will be useful to hold up all the extra straps so it's not going to "clean the floor" which is added bonus.

kirsty kavanagh

Date 5/25/2016

Nova sounds like it may have more colourful patterns which I could never say no to and the padding looks much more comfortable and the width of the straps will add to comfyness in my opinion so pretty

Rachel Williams

Date 5/25/2016

Id have to go for the nova with all the different colour options you can create something unique to you. Plus the extra padding at the waist, good when you have a dogey back.

Becks

Date 5/25/2016

I think I would choose Nova. I have a connecta & do like it (bought before I had heard of Nova carriers), but I love the Nova patterns & choice of colours - you can really personalise it and make it your own. And hiding the muffin top is a HUGE bonus!

Laura Maskell

Date 5/25/2016

I have a connecta and whilst I love it for the convenience, I still prefer my lillebaby for longer wears. The nova sounds like it could address some of the niggles I have with my connecta, such as the high cross over and the diggy in waist band. Would love to try it!

Mona Spielmann

Date 5/25/2016

I have a connecta and absolutely love it for it's portability, actually went from a Tula to a connecta, even though people always rave about Tulas - I'd be worried about the shorter padding on the nova as my husband prefers my standard connecta to my petite, but I do love some of the other features on it. Would love to be able to compare them for myself along with the other mums at our sling meet!

Clare

Date 5/25/2016

Love the Nova. Pretty colourful pattern & looks more comfy too

Emma Louise Devlin

Date 5/25/2016

Brilliant review! I'd love the nova, think the shape would work better for us x

Donna Webb

Wow, a fantastic review, I have been looking towards the connecta, but I think after reading the comparison I would try the Nova for the padding and the hourglass shape and think it may suit my petite frame better.

sarah rowland

Date 5/25/2016

i love the Nova, not only for the bright colour but from age 6 month to 2 years means both my boys could get a turn using this, also being a size 18 and seeing this goes upto a uk 22 i know it would fit right making it a more comfortable ride for my boys.

Sian

Date 5/25/2016

Looking at your excellent review of both carriers. I find myself swaying more towards the nova as I like the idea of having the choice of hood or no hood. X

Siobhan

Date 5/25/2016

Interesting review! I have two Connectas and have a love/hate relationship with them because of the straps digging in, especially on the lighter solar. The Nova sounds like a good alternative.

Helen

Date 5/26/2016

I'd like the nova because of the additional padding and the tidy straps. Thanks

Lynnette cook

Date 5/26/2016

My connecta was our first sling, and we love it. But after slingit I was lucky enough to try a nova onbu and full buckle carrier that my local library got and I love them too! The full buckle was more comfortable for me during a back carry now my daughter is getting bigger. I loved the padding at the edge of the waist belt and the super cool prints nova have to pick from.

Gemma Moore

Date 5/26/2016

Oooo.... mean to make us choose. I love the nova because it is bright but I would choose the connecta because of the deathly hallows esk image upon it. So that one gets my vote ^_^

Anna Lemmon

Date 5/26/2016

I haven't tried either but the Nova looks good and nice and comfy. Would love a second carrier as I get really annoyed when hubby uses my lillebaby and messes the straps up

Date 5/26/2016

I have a connecta and I can not fault it. I'd love to try the nova carrier though myself to compare. Love the pattern choices!!

Connecta -mainly as i want something suitable for my newborn x but nova looks good for later on

Would love to try a nova! I have 2 connectas and two lillebabies and this looks like a really interesting idea with so much choice to really customise your own in the waybyiu can do with the others. How excitIng to have another option available to be able to wear our babies in comfort & style ;-)

Laura higgins

Date 5/26/2016

The Nova looks like a winner to me, I like the look of the shaped body and the smaller buckles. I have a connecta and find the hood annoying as I don't use it so a carrier without would be a great choice for me

Eimear Gaffney

Date 5/26/2016

What a great review, after having a connecta for about a year I sold it on as the webbing constantly dug into me and tbh it hurts, at first it was fine but once my Lo started to gain weight it actually put me off wearing him. I'd love to try the nova as I love the ssc so handy to pop into handbag compared to the structured buckle and nice and light that extra bit of padding on the nova would definitely save the torture from the webbing! ☺️

Claire Howe

Date 5/26/2016

Think I'd probably go for the Nova as we'd rarely use a hood, so would get one without it.

Jenna McAulay

Date 5/26/2016

I would go for the Nova, looks more attractive, has more padding and I like the way the buckle straps can be tidied away.

L Daniel

Date 5/26/2016

I'm looking for a more compact carrier at the moment so this article was really useful. At the moment I think I prefer the nova as the panel is a little higher and my little one always looks better cradled and seems to prefer it.

Natalie bould

Date 5/26/2016

Ooh I'd love a nova as don't see them Around and I like to be different looks lovely X

Veronica

Date 5/26/2016

I prefer the Nova. Not only is it smaller but it's so colourful,:) I currently have a side sling (shoulder to hip) and tbh. It doesn't work for me or my little one. She doesn't enjoy it, she loves being upright and sitting up though. So either way both designs and styles are perfect (if your bambino is as picky as mine.) Xxx

Kerri-Ann Percy-larkin

Date 5/26/2016

Being a massive connecta fan and owning 1 myself I thought nothing could beat it, iv tryed lots of different ones at my local sling libary but with the connecta it was instant love.... but now!!!! Reading the review of the Nova could my love be swayed? I believe it could be it looks like it will be more comfortable with the padded straps and the longer straps are fab!! I have a few larger family members who all wanted to try my connecta but either strugged to get it to fit or is was just far to tight. So for me I would love to give the Nova a try

Katy Harding

Date 5/26/2016

Judging by the review I think I would prefer a Nova baby carrier ... I definatley would love to try one out! It looks comfy, like it would fit many size waists comfortably and it's looks like it has lots of padding and looks easy to use X

I am a die hard connecta fan, but the nova looks great. I like that you can customise, and the little bit of padding to stop it feeling diggy. Great review

Joanna

I have never used light carrier like this (using lilliebaby) so the article was very interesting. For my 10.5 kg 10 months old I would choose connect. :)

Amy

Date 5/26/2016

Love my connecta, but been a shorty I think the nova is the way forward for me.

Helen

Date 5/26/2016

sara bracey

Date 5/26/2016

I have tried both normal and toddler connects and loved them but this nova seems to be an in between I f the both and would love to give it a go.

Gemma Evans

Date 5/26/2016

I like the sound of the Nova. Hood would hardly be used so having the option to have without is appealing. I too have a sweaty baby! I also think the straps look comfier being wider. Nova wins for me

Isobel MONAGHAN

Date 5/26/2016

Based in the info here I think I would go for a Nova, it's the little things like the elastics to secure excess webbing, the smaller buckles and optional hood. However as my 'babies' are now 3 and walking more often, I am swayed to the Connecta because they offer a preschool size. I currently use a Lillebaby Carry On and although it is super comfy and the children nap in it well, it isn't a compact option for carrying 'just in case' so I spend a lot of time wearing it empty. I think a Connecta or Nova would go in my bag easily enough and still leave room for shopping! So I'm saying Connecta for my big kids, but if I was looking for a baby or toddler size I think I'd be trying out the Nova. Thanks for the comprehensive review. Really useful to me as a sling library volunteer too.

Catriona

Date 5/26/2016

Great review. I think I sway more towards the nova due to the thicker waist and shoulder parts...looks comfier. I like that you don't have to have a hood. My daughter hates having her head covered. I also prefer the price. My other issue is that you can only use from 6 months so I'd need to wait another 3 months to use.

Jenny Broughton

Date 5/26/2016

Wow great comprehensive review... They both look fab carriers and whilst the connecta wins on age range I think I prefer the fact that you've a hood option with the Nova... Perfect for when your little one won't wear a hat!!

judy

Date 5/26/2016

Great review, and very different carriers... Nova just wins on level of customisation options, though sad that there weren't any wrap fabrics available - and when I started browsing through all the custom fabrics available it got exhausting!! Would love to win one so I can try it out! Xx

Sophie baylis

Date 5/26/2016

The nova sounds fab, the angled straps sound like they would be very comfy for the neck, also prefer the slightly padded waistband, i would love to try one!

Charlotte

Date 5/26/2016

A very helpful review for a Connecta addict, but I have to say you have made me want to try a Nova! Excellent carriers both by the sound of it.

Emma Dinnin

Date 5/26/2016

I do love the connecta but looking at the nova strap in your review I would love to try one as I find the connecta straps bother me a bit and I can't carry for too long on the back comfortably. I'd love to let my library mums who love connectas try it also to have a review off them!!

Francesca Boulton

Date 5/26/2016

I would love to win the Nova as my daughter's God mother (who is plus size) would love to carry her but my buckles are too small for her to try. She would fit the Nova so could appreciate the lovely snugly cuddles. She does so much for both of us, it would be lovely to be able to include her in carrying my monster without being made to feel conscious of her size x x

Hannah Root

Date 5/26/2016

Great comparison. As someone who only has a lillebaby it is great to read about other carriers. I think a nova would be better for me as I like the wider waistband :-)

Julie Patchouli

Date 5/26/2016

Thanks for the in depth review! After reading I think the Nova comes out tops for me, bring able to choose fabrics at no extra cost is amazing. The padded not that helps to reduce 'muffin top' also makes it a winner for me.

Heather Dalgarno

Date 5/26/2016

Both of these look fantastic, I currently have a lillebaby which is fantastic but I would also like a less structured carrier as they pack down smaller and come in such exiting fabrics. Of these two I would choose the nova because I like the idea of how customizable it is with the choice of fabric and strap colors

Caroline

Date 5/26/2016

I would love a connecta I see them being suggested all the time. Great blog x

Marna

Date 5/26/2016

Nova I think- it seems more comfortable with the extra padding

Catherine May

Date 5/26/2016

Both look fantastic and have their pros and cons for me, but I think it's the nova I'd go for. The strap length, padding and prints are a winner. However just wish it was suitable from birth like the connecta is.

Emma girling

Date 5/26/2016

This review has really helped me to understand carriers. I think I prefer the nova now xx

Emma Perry

Date 5/26/2016

I like the look of the Nova, looks more supportive and comfier yet it still looks like it will fold up quite small to put in your bag and carry with you when out and about. X

Erin Weston

Date 5/26/2016

Both carriers look easy to use, lightweight and fabulous. But I think, I prefer the Nova carrier as it looks slightly more comfy. With it's extra pass I g compared to the Conecta, and in this instance the colours are much more vibrant and interesting. I also like the fact the panel is wider and shorter compared to the conecta. I just think it would mould around baby that little bit better. Both amazing carriers that would be greatly loved by most that tried them I'm sure. Lovely.

I think the nova looks good and would be my choice to move from the SSC. They both look like they would take up much less room so easy to take with you in a bag. Looking forward to trying one out.

Wider straps have to be a good thing! I like the Nova.

Triona Doyle

Date 5/26/2016

I like the sound of the Nova!

Kelly Raymond

Date 5/26/2016

I really love the look of the nova bit as a connecta wearer currently I love the hood on the connecta as my LG who is a naptime nightmare knows it's time to sleep when the hood I'd up whereas I'm not sure she'd sleep without it... My vote goes to the connecta for now but I'd love to give a nova a go as they're really beautiful!!

Sian

Date 5/26/2016

Hi think after reading this Nova would be the one for me. Would be a great addition to roll up in a bag in the car xx

beth Heinz

Date 5/26/2016

I love the beautiful prints on both and have found a connecta to be a very comfortable carrier. I think a nova would be good as a library sling as it seems slightly longer so more flexible between different sized customers. I'd like to try one out!

Philippa

Date 5/26/2016

Such a difficult choice! I would have to go for the Nova. It's all the little things that make the difference like extra padding by the webbing and ties to keep extra strap lengths out the way. You can never have too much padding so extra at the waist is a bonus. Even longer straps is great so it is easy to share with a partner that is a different size. Loving the great colours too - would love to try it!

Sam Dance

Date 5/26/2016

As much as I love the pattern of the nova, I think I would like the connecta as it will last me longer

Sarah

Date 5/26/2016

I have a connecta which i love, but i will definitely be looking out for a nova to try as they sound brilliant too!!!

lucy owens

Date 5/26/2016

I have never used a structureless baby carrier before but have been considering one for my toddler for our Summer holiday. The review was so informative and gave me a good idea of what I am looking for. The Nova does look great, and it sounds like it would be comfortable to wear.

Laura

Date 5/26/2016

Not tried the Nova yet but it sounds fab! I use my Connecta a lot for speed and convenience but don't find it particularly comfortable. The Nova seems to offer both convenience AND comfort. I'll definitely be looking to try one.

Toni

Date 5/26/2016

After reading the reviews I think I'd much prefer the connecta,i think it offers what i need I'm new to the whole sling thing but been searching for an affordable one for when my son's born in 12 weeks :) please choose me xx xx

melanie Thompson

Date 5/26/2016

I would love to try a connecta as.my sister in law loved the one she tried, however the shaping of the nova looks fantastic :)

Gail

Date 5/26/2016

I love the look of the nova and the extra padding, my son doesnt like using a hood so the fact it doesnt have one is a bonus to me

Karen Hunter

Date 5/26/2016

The Nova is my choice based on this comparison. I am sold on the waistband. It looks longer which then eliminates the need to have a his and hers carrier.

Rosemary Hayward

Date 5/26/2016

I'd be interested to try the Nova, but I'd be worried about the waist size. Connectas are about the only buckled carrier that fit me properly as I have a small waist and I normally can't do padded waistbands up tight enough.

Sophie

Date 5/26/2016

I love my Connecta and have a baby and toddler version. I like the integrated hood and the way second hand carriers hold their value pretty well, meaning I have been able to change print a couple of times by selling and buying a different print. I like petite ps too as I am only 5'2". However the Nova does seem to have more options and my, what a novelty to have several patterns in stock! Personally I use the hood a lot so the hood-free option is irrelevant. Overall I will stick with the Connecta due to having a 3-month-old...But hoping the Nova comes to a sling library near me soon!

Rosie

Date 5/26/2016

I like the sound of the Nova. The extra padding on the waist band and the curved straps sound great. What a comprehensive review. Thank you!

Kelly

Date 5/26/2016

That's a great review, I think me and my little lady would like the nova as it sounds the most comfortable. The print on the picture is fabulous for summer :)

Vicki pipes

Date 5/26/2016

I would love to try the nova, to see if it is as comfy as it looks with the wide padded straps and for the reason my husband is 6'4" and wants to try carrying our little one so would be better for him too

Laura strain

Date 5/26/2016

Both carriers are good although I think the nova might be better for me. I think I would prefer the waistband the nova with the little extra padding. The nova has some lovely designs but I have seen lovely connecta designs.

Lauren Hill

Date 5/26/2016

Personally I'd go for the Nova. I like the idea of no muffin top! Softer straps so they are more comfortable sounds good as I tend to get a headache when the straps dig in! I like that the Nova is wider at the bottom to tuck in little feet.

Anaelle

Date 5/26/2016

I think I would prefer the Nova for his shape and looks more comfortable on the shoulders. Love the print too :)

Rebecca Luke

Date 5/26/2016

I was leaning towards the connecta but following this detailed review I would now prefer the nova. The reason is mainly due to the straps, I prefer the padding & also really like the contoured panel, it looks more comfy in general. I do love having a good but the option to buy one solves this & we manage fine without one when using the babyhawk so it's not a deal breaker. Of course the connecta being suitable from birth is more ideal & I'd prefer it if the Nova was too as our youngest is just 11 weeks old but will grow into it soon. Fab review, thanks.

Rachael Price

Date 5/26/2016

I love the Connecta. This review though has made me sway more towards the Nova, even though I don't have experience of it, it does sound great!!

Rosie

Date 5/26/2016

This is a really helpful review - thank you. I have a Tula but have been looking at buying a Connecta so I have something smaller for days when it may be packed away. I think now I might try the Nova as the padding at the hip looks like it would be more comfortable.

Vicky

Date 5/26/2016

Looks like a fab carrier that would fold up tinny for days out! Think I'd prefer the nova

Jilly

Date 5/26/2016

Wow the Nova sounds great, I would love to try it! Used the connecta on holiday which was great. The Nova sounds very similar and seems to have more plus points that I like the sound of. Cool pattern too!

Alex

Date 5/26/2016

What a great review - comprehensive and informative, and I loved the photo comparisons. I have had a connecta on my wish list for ages but have been put off by the fact the stock is crazzyyy - I miss the designs I want when they're back in stock! so I'm automatically impressed by what Nova offers in that department! I like the extra paddedness , I think for me that is a really important feature! Also like the optional hood, that's such a great idea. Can't wait to snoop around the website to look at the patterns available!!

Katie Sherlock

Date 5/26/2016

Nova looks like it would be more comfy with the padding! Also love the neutral print!

Fiona

Date 5/26/2016

Definitely the Nova for the wider straps. It just looks more comfy to wear than the Connecta. Plus all the choices in fabric! Such choice for our little one, the brighter the better! The only negative is its not suitable for newborns so couldn't try with our soon to be born baby girl straight away!

Carly Cox

Date 5/26/2016

A great review, although I'm still undecided! I think I'm more drawn towards the nova. From your comparison, and others comments, I think it's better suited for us curvy women. We've got a lillebaby which we love, however would love to try one of these as it seems less bulky.

Michelle Hughes

Date 5/26/2016

I recently had the chance to try the Nova (I borrowed it from Tramore and Waterford Sling Library) and found it was really comfortable and light. Perfect for using when the weather is warmer and it gave lots of support when carrying my 18 month old. Oh and the print is great too. I'd love to win one!

Sarah

Date 5/26/2016

I think I prefer the Nova it looks really comfortable and a slightly wider fit also you have to have a bit of colour!

Jen

Date 5/26/2016

The Nova looks amazing with the extra padding, but I love the Harry Potter Connecta. Eek! I can't choose between them! Guess I'll have to get both! ;)

Jodie

Date 5/26/2016

The nova looks a lot better made and more thought has gone into making it. The straps are longer making it more accommodating for larger men and women. It has extra padding which will help the comfort levels for the wearer and child. Overall it looks like it's miles better and would be fantastic to wear

Katie Lee

Date 5/26/2016

I prefer the Nova... it appeals to the textile geek in me! We currently use a lillebaby but we're looking for something small to take with us on the days that we use the pushchair

Kristyn

Date 5/26/2016

I think I'd prefer the Nova as the straps and waistband look far more comfortable. I'm looking for options that would suit both me and hubby once we move on from the stretchy and this looks ideal.

Linda Kearon

Date 5/26/2016

From reading the review I would go with the Nova. I have a Connecta & think the difference mentioned between it & the Nova would make the Nova more comfortable to wear ie angled shoulder strap as I find it can be hard to get cross on back low enough on Connecta. Also I hate having so much of the straps dangling on the connecta.

Claire Drelincourt

Date 5/26/2016

The nova looks impressive. I'm looking for a comfy sling other than my connecta as I've a new baby due soon so will need two!

Stefenie taylor

Date 5/26/2016

I always loved the connecta. But from looking at this review I think I prefer the nova. I like the thicker straps and the wider panel

Hayley

Date 5/26/2016

Ooh I like the look of the nova and would prefer a hoodless option

Melanie Daniels

Date 5/26/2016

I am completely new to baby wearing as I'm expecting a baby in six weeks time - I wanted to baby wear with my first but was unable to find a carrier that I liked (my local Mothercare only stocked one kind and it was huge and bulky). I think from the look of them I prefer the Nova as it looks more comfortable and easier to put on. I'm determined to find a carrier to suit me this time round!

Melissa

Date 5/26/2016

Thanks for such a comprehensive comparison of the two carriers. I think that the nova would suit us better - almost every aspect you mention seems better on the Nova. It's really surprised me that the Nova is better designed than the connecta!

Hannah reeve-bester

Date 5/26/2016

I love my connecta! Judging by this review I think I would love the Nova too. I would love to see what difference the extra padding makes on the waist. I think it would possibly make it even better than the connecta. Great review

Faye porter

Date 5/26/2016

Absolutely love the connecta. The nova sounds great too, but I personally think the connecta would be better for my family :)

Sarah

Date 5/26/2016

I've never used either of these carriers but have had an onbu from nova and loved it ..... These are well made and can be custom made to suit your needs and desires personally I am desperate for a nova buckles ....

Janene

Date 5/26/2016

The nova seems to be the winner, more longevity & sounds like it would be more comfortable, but who knows without trying them both.

Charlotte Murray

Date 5/26/2016

I have tried both carriers at a sling library. Love them both, it was hard to choose between the two but I preferred the Nova as it was more comfy around the waist and I loved the marvel avengers pattern on the one I borrowed.

Laura Edwards

Date 5/26/2016

Nova - the gorgeous colours and patterns

Zoe Purnell

Date 5/26/2016

Wow I'm all new to the sling I never used one for my son who is 6 now but with my baby girl it's been a life saver for school runs this report about the nova reads amazing and I know I would love to try this one pennies are right with the two kids and me not going back to work but this would help me so much with my dinky dot xxx fingers crossed for everyone xxx

Jo

Date 5/26/2016

I think they are both beautiful carriers but I LOVE the connecta!! I am a big potter head and have been reading my baby the potter books since birth! I think this sling would be perfect for us on our quest for the deathly hollows xXx

Anna

Date 5/26/2016

I have a connecta already and a small 5 month old so it seems a better fit at the moment. But I love the idea of all those prints and the straps that woul be further away from my neck on the nova!

Melissa

Date 5/26/2016

Oh I love the nova! Looks like it would be good for a larger woman like myself and I love the bright colours!

Zoe

Date 5/26/2016

I love my connecta but wow the nova looks great and would love the chance to try it. I like the hood, I'm due baby number two in 4 weeks and this would be incredible to win the mova. I like the look of the extra padding in the straps too

Leah cole

Date 5/26/2016

I have no experience with either and both sound great! I would be happy to try either I am desperate for a carrier that is both comfy for me and my husband and is easy to use! The one we have doesn't fit my female body correctly and hurts my back!

olga

Date 5/26/2016

I have a connecta as I thought it was the only buckle carrier without a padded waist. Reading this has convinced me I need a Nova.

Leanne knowles

Date 5/26/2016

Currently have a connecta would love to try the nova with my little girl after reading this review, I think the extra padding on waist and shorter padding on shoulder straps would definitely be more comfortable for us.

Lindsay Billsborrow

Date 5/26/2016

These both look great although I'd love to try a Conecta out

Jen C

Date 5/26/2016

For starters thanks for the great review! Nova would suit me better, the padded shoulder straps and the position of the buckles sound better to me. No hood??!! Great! I've also got a baby who has the sweatiest head. My baby is 7mth now so suitable for the nova....did I read it was only from 6mth?

Mae'r

Date 5/26/2016

We've just got a nova so not much experience but we are very impressed. I think trying both is a good idea.

Val Aspinall

Date 5/26/2016

I have tried a connecta before and although it was good, it wasn't for us. The Nova with the extra padding at the waist strap looks better. I'd love to give this a try.

Rachel Reith

Date 5/26/2016

Based on just the pictures I like the look of the nova and reading the comparison im inclined to agree with my first thought. I started my baby wearing with a baba sling which was very easy use but never felt very safe I loved my lillebaby complete almost straight away once I got the hang of using it. These both look easy to use and with baby no 2 on the way I'm looking for a good 2nd carrier and definitely think the nova will go on my short list X

Claire

Date 5/26/2016

I have just bought a Connecta this week, having never tried the Nova. After reading the comparisons I wish I'd bought the Nova now. Although my LO is only 4 months, so the Connecta is obviously better for me at the moment. I work from home so the having a sling is an absolute life saver for me. And she absolutely loves to sleep in it :-)

Candice Briscoe

Date 5/26/2016

I would choose the Nova, such beautiful bright colours. We currently use an Ergo and the Nova looks more more suited to the summer ☀️⛱❤️

Jessica

Date 5/26/2016

Great informative review, I have only tried stretchy slings but I would love the nova:)

Marta

Date 5/26/2016

I've never used Nova or Connecta before but from description above Connecta would be more suitable for me and my baba :-)

angela hughes

Date 5/26/2016

I would love to try the Nova, as a plus sized mum i do not like the extra padding that gives me a muffin top around my waist!!

Michelle

Date 5/26/2016

Great review, I never considered connectas but have tried the nova and really like them. :) My next carrier purchase for sure.

Katy

Date 5/26/2016

I'd love to try a Nova! I've used a connecta but have problems with the cross on my bag being too high so would love to see the difference the extra padding on the Nova would make! Thanks for a great comparison!

Diamond

Date 5/26/2016

I live the connecta because I perfer the design! It's a beautiful carrier

Catherine

Date 5/26/2016

I like the both but Nova carriers are definitely my favourite of the two! The slight padding on the waist really makes a lot of difference for me and I also like that you can choose almost any fabric or wrap to be made into one of these lovely carriers!

Helen Russell

Date 5/26/2016

I've never tried either but I definitely prefer the look of the Nova. Love the wider base and body panel. Longer straps give it the flexibility for grandparents etc to use too.

Kelly

Date 5/26/2016

I have had and loved Connectas, so would love to try out a Nova to see how they compare.

Kerry kenworthy

Date 5/26/2016

Connecta light and less padding ❤

Sue

Date 5/26/2016

I always found the nova more comfortable but didn't realise you could get it with a hood until now......delighted!!xx

Jessica

Date 5/26/2016

The Nova sounds like it would be prefect for myself and my wee man, I have a swing for him and I love carrying him about and having him so close to me and wanted to get a new one for ages but just haven't been able to afford one. Out of these two I would prefer the Nova

Kirsty Wallis

Date 5/26/2016

I love the nova and connecta carriers we have in our sling library however as they are always out I would be very happy to win a nova carrier for personal use with my smallest person

sara

Date 5/26/2016

I like the nova with the extra padding and muffin top minimising features!

Camilla

Date 5/26/2016

Love the look of the Nova, it's a lovely shape and I like the fact that there lots of fabric choices. Sometimes it does come down to small details though and I always appreciate the little elastics that keep the straps neat! Love my Lille but would be so interested in trying something lighter and more compact too

Stella

Date 5/26/2016

I would really love to try the Nova!

Clare

Date 5/26/2016

I personally love my connecta but would really like the opportunity to try a nova as the ones i tried on briefly were very nice

JenJ

Date 5/26/2016

I have a lillebaby which I love but just been on hol and needed a carrier which rolled up small so borrowed my friends connecta which I found really easy to use and took up no space at all. I'd love to win a nova though as I don't know if I can justify buying one but I would love one!!

pippa

Date 5/26/2016

i have a connecta already but found it rubbed the wee one as he got bigger. Would love to try the Nova!

Emilie Boe.

Date 5/26/2016

I have always been Nova curious even before they rebranded as Nova but I never managed to find reviews which were detailed enough to convince me to take the plunge! Your review is so great! Obviously I just bought myself a lovely Connecta a few weeks ago and I am now thinking I should have opted for a Nova! I love the idea of how personal your carrier can be thanks to the custom option and still at an affordable price! I love the fact it is made in the UK too! This pesky hood on the Connecta is really driving me mad, I wish there was an option to not have it...oh well, with luck maybe a Nova will come to live in my house soon! Thanks for the review!

Amy

Date 5/26/2016

I have a Connecta Sola which has been great. I rate Connecta as they are nice and deep and seem to get a really good position to carry in. Hoping for a standard Connecta to add to the collection.

Sharleen Hanlon

Date 5/26/2016

I prefer the little bit of extra padding on the nova

Julie Stevenson

Date 5/26/2016

We love our connecta as it's so compact and simple compared to lots of others. Would love to try a nova though x

Jaclyn H

Date 5/26/2016

I'd love to try a Nova. It sounds like a really great alternative to a Connecta and the choice of colours/patterns sounds amazing!x

Lyzzi Wills Surridge

Date 5/26/2016

I'd love to win a nova full buckle as I find the connecta straps dig badly on my neck.

Natasha piper

Date 5/26/2016

Nova for the extra padding :)

charlotte hoult

Date 5/27/2016

I currently have a caboo and live it for my prem 6 week old but when he eventually grows I love the idea of these. I personally feel the extra bits of padding around the waist of the Nova to be aadvantageous for the little ones. If à sunny day or they were wanting a sleep I am still not keen on the hood so the Nova would win for me but that is my personal thought. If it were detachable then maybe i would concider but i am not keen on the excess material.

Peri B

Date 5/27/2016

I really love my connecta but with all the supply issues. The nova are winning me over. I like how you can have an scc with pfa (scc deluxe option) and a good ramge of fabric choices... But am not the biggest fan of the hood attaching as it's a tie rather than clips :/ So overall.. nova are easier to source and for those whom connecta isn't padded enough... nova is your friend.

Shabana

Date 5/27/2016

Loving the bit of padding on the nova. And the choice of fabrics. We all like to make our carriers unique, either by using suck pads and slips, having wrap conversions or picking fabrics and the range nova provides is great! X

Rachael Sherriff

Date 5/27/2016

I prefer the Connecta as it's grey and my son's name is Fraser Gray!!! Also it seems to be more flexible in terms of practical features. My son is 19 days old and we haven't been able to try a carrier yet so this would be a great way to start.

Michaela Chattaway

Date 5/27/2016

I haven't tried a Nova carrier but am in the process of paying for a Nova Deluxe full buckle carrier. I have tried a connecta which I didn't find very comfortable for long periods of wearing which is why I ordered the deluxe, for the padded waistband. All the carriers looked great at Sling It

Jo phillips

Date 5/27/2016

We prefer the Nova, my husband has found the waist band on the connectas/tula's uncomfortable so the Nova fits the bill :-) Yay baby wearing Daddy :-)

Jodie

Date 5/27/2016

I love the nova carrier I've had one in the past and it's so comfortable and baby was just as comfy . I was able to easily adjust the carrier for my baby and them use the same one for my toddler and then back again

Maria Sealey

Date 5/27/2016

I recently tried the connecta and loved it apart from the muffin top bit and the digging into my neck bit so the nova sounds great. I'm always lusting after their carriers when I see them...

Liz Jones

Date 5/27/2016

Love love love my Connecta but really intrigued by the Nova. I'd love to win one! Off to do some research now.... Maybe I'll treat myself :)

Zoe

Date 5/27/2016

Nova wins for me! Padding and being able to choose from a wide range of fabric, I'm currently using a stretchy and have been researching the connecta and Nova myself and have been planning on buying a Nova soon, so winning one would be even better, maternity pay and all that :p

Debbie Moore

Date 5/27/2016

The nova as it think it would be the extra padding that would make it work better for us

Alexandra Phillips

Date 5/27/2016

I think the Nova sells to me more down to the mass of colour variations it's available in. I really like the idea of having a hood, just a tad unfortunate that it has to be an extra. Unfortunately I've never tried a buckle carrier to know for sure but I'm excited to try my first one out, my little boy is a wriggler and a leg straightener and can wiggle out of a very secure wrap and my newborn hates her caboo, so buckles is next on the list

Kimberley

Date 5/27/2016

I think that Connecta is a brand that I am more aware of so would be more likely to try. After reading this blog it sounds like Nova has a lot to offer.

Jenny

Date 5/27/2016

Love my connecta as its so comfy and easy. Would really like to try a Nova too though and was torn between them when buying.

Julie Murphy

Date 5/27/2016

I love the Nova! The colours and fabric patterns are beautiful! It's a compact carrier which can be used instead of my bulkier carrier!

Rachael Hancock

Date 5/27/2016

I love the patterns available for nova and that there is so much choice, would prefer a nova over a connecta but do like that connecta can be used from birth!

Kelly Elkady

Date 5/27/2016

The nova! I just love the colours and designs. It's a bonus that it'll help hide your muffin top :-)

Sim

Date 5/27/2016

I had my heart set on a Connecta and was on the wait list for months but was recently told the print I wanted was being discontinued so after seeing two recommendations for a Nova vs a Connecta I'm definitely up for trying it.

Zana Wilkinson

Date 5/28/2016

I have a Tula which I love but the Nova looks cool. I would ideally like to gift it to a friend in need.

Kirsty

Date 5/28/2016

I love our Connecta! The bit about the pocket being open on each side, you're meant to tuck the hood down inside the two panels (so the outer patterned panel and the inner (usually black) panel) which creates a pocket inside the carrier ☺ not just use the folded hood. I like having the hood built in but I can see why some people would prefer it without The Nova is interesting though, had never heard of it until reading this review! Will have to keep a look out and see if our local library has one to try

Harriet

Date 5/28/2016

I would love a connecta, I think it's a bit more versatile and flexible. Also I love the design! <3

Lee dixon

Date 5/29/2016

I have a tula and I really like the way the Nova looks! Sometimes I wear my baby and I feel hes not close enough on me. I worry about his body and his back and having this would make my mind ease up that Its naturally close and used to the feeling to adjust my Tula the way it should be! I'm in the US. If there's international shipping additionally i would absolutely pay if in fact I won! Thanks so much for the chance!

Kayleigh

Date 5/29/2016

We have a DNA print connecta which both my husband and I love to wear our daughter in, but now our 1 year old is almost 23lb I have found some pulling at my shoulders spoiling our days out together. We have gone from exclusively babywearing to dusting off our buggy on the odd occasion as a result. I, too, find the connecta waist-belt gives me some squishy overhang even now I am (lucky me!) at prebaby weight (if not prebaby shape exactly haha). I would really love to try a Nova-the hourglass shape and little elastics for slack intrigue me and the customising options sound brilliant. My husband would love to try a Nova out! Our connecta is a treasured part of our family.

Nicole Jukes

Date 5/29/2016

I love that the nova comes in so many pattern choices, that's fantastic. I also like that the Base is wider, and slightly padded. I'd love to try one!

Paula Buzgau

Date 5/29/2016

Haven't tried any of these two. But I have had mu eyes on both for some time now. Maye I preffer the Connecta but Nova seems more suitable for a taller kid as my ottle baby girl is at the moment yet she's not a toddler yet!

I would love to try the nova. I think the huge variety of prints available would certainly mean my picky other half would be easily pleased and I think the smaller middle buckles and hour glass shape would be an advantage to me as I'm a lot smaller than him so would work for us both.

Love the look of the nova looks comfortable and really padded.

I like the look and the reviews of both but am favouring the nova a wee bit more.

I have tried both a connecta and a nova and they are both awesome however I think the nova just tops the connecta in terms of the fit and finish. I am currently lending a mario print one from my local sling library and would LOVE one of my very own ❤️

I prefer the Connecta purely because I have never tried a Nova! Maybe I will change my mind if I get the chance to try one!

I love the look of the nova and how bright the colours are.

My vote is for the nova I currently have a lille baby and I love it but I never seem to be able to get it tight enough so would love to give the nova a go :) xx

I love the Nova. I love the wide range of colour and pattern options and the shape of the main body. It's much comfy than the connecta in my opinion too.

I think despite supply problems, I would still prefer thw Conecta although I could be persuaded if I had the opportunity to try the Nova. I like the simplicity of the Connecta, and its price, slightly cheaper than the Nova with a hood. I also like the amount of padding on the Connecta, and not sure padding is required at the edge of the waistband as the Nova offers. But as a similiar alternative, which is relatively comparable in price, and wider stocked and more likely to be available thus not facing the supply problems of the Connecta, it seems like a good option to offer people.

Apart from loving the design of the nova it gets my vote for the longer straps and wider padding also anything that reduces my muffin top gets a big thumbs up.. I'd love to try one

def a nova. I prefer the more shapely panel and larger fitting size and the fabrics are just funky and fun

I love the look of the Nova. Love the hourglass shape on the panel and the pattern and colour options.

I never thought I would get this caught up in baby wearing but I'm starting to become a bit obsessed. I have spent a small fortune at my local sling library as I can't decide which sling I like the best. The connecta is so hard to get hold of but I do love the hood as my little boy tends to fall asleep and his head hangs at such an awkward angle unless supported so if there was no hood I would probably have to hold his head slightly defeating one of the reasons to 'sling it'. I also loved the solarweave as my little one gets super sweaty and this is soooo thin. I haven't tried the nova, I do love the prints though and the thicker waist strap may prevent the muffin top overflow as suggested in the article which would be a bonus. Although I'd prefer the bigger buckles of the connecta as its a struggle to find them when fishing around with straps as it is! Looks like its the connecta then!

I would love to win a Nova carrier because of its comfort - I like the padding, shape and features much better. A little girl due soon in September, so it would be much appreciated!

I've got a Nova Baby Onbu in a Custom design and love it. I'd love a full buckles to go with it - a toddler buckles would be even better! :-)
